We collaborate in Nexe Fundació’s 4th Music Therapy Conference to foster a more connected and transformative professional network

The Fundació Ferrer de Música collaborated in the 4th Music Therapy Conference organized by Nexe Fundació, an event that brought together more than 100 professionals from the fields of healthcare, education, and social action to reflect on the present and future of music therapy, as well as on the importance of continuing to strengthen the ties between professionals, disciplines, and communities.

Held on June 4 at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona, the conference has established itself as a leading forum for sharing experiences, generating knowledge, and promoting recognition of a discipline that is becoming increasingly present in hospitals, schools, and specialized care centers.

Music Therapy as a Living Network

Under the theme Music Therapy: A Living Network, the conference invited participants to understand music therapy as a relational ecosystem capable of connecting people, knowledge, and practices in order to improve the quality of life of individuals living with complex chronic conditions and/or disabilities.

The event was aimed at music therapists and professionals from related disciplines—including psychology, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, nursing, education, social work, and occupational therapy—with the goal of creating spaces for shared reflection and encouraging collaborative work in response to the profession’s current challenges.

Sharing Knowledge to Move Forward Together

The program combined discussion forums, presentations, and experiential workshops that explored music therapy from three complementary perspectives: relationships among professionals, interdisciplinary collaboration, and engagement with the community.

One of the highlights was a roundtable discussion on the importance of building support and cooperation networks among professionals, featuring representatives from the Official College of Psychologists of Catalonia, the Catalan Association of Music Therapy, and the European Music Therapy Confederation (EMTC).

The conference also examined the role of music therapy within multidisciplinary teams, highlighting its contribution to supporting people with complex needs. In addition, the practical workshops provided participants with the opportunity to experience different methodologies and approaches within the field firsthand.

The Fundació Ferrrer de Música’s Commitment

For the Fundació Ferrer de Música, collaborating in this initiative is part of its commitment to promoting projects that enhance people’s well-being through music and to supporting spaces for professional exchange, learning, and collaboration.

Music therapy is a highly valuable tool for fostering inclusion, emotional support, and quality of life, and events such as this one contribute to strengthening its development, visibility, and social impact.

The conference concluded with a concert performed by musicians from the Conservatori del Liceu, bringing to a close a day characterized by participation, shared learning, and the creation of new partnerships.

At the Fundació Ferrrer de Música, we will continue to support initiatives that, like this one, make music a powerful tool for care, inclusion, and social transformation.
