We welcome Iñaki Sandoval as the new general director of the Fundació Conservatori Liceu

Iñaki Sandoval will assume his new role this December, beginning a new chapter focused on strengthening the Conservatory’s international profile, fostering innovation and consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading institutions for music education.

During today’s presentation, Sergi Ferrer-Salat, President of both the Fundació Conservatori Liceu and the Fundació Ferrer de Música, highlighted that: “Iñaki Sandoval not only brings world-class international leadership experience from leading institutions across Asia and Europe, but also possesses a deep understanding of our institution’s identity and an artistic sensitivity that will ensure excellence continues to guide everything we do.”

A Career That Began at the Conservatori Liceu

Iñaki Sandoval’s career combines a distinguished artistic background with extensive experience in international academic leadership. A pianist, composer and cultural manager, he is an alumnus of the Conservatori Liceu, where he also served as Dean of Postgraduate Studies and founded the Jazz Department, leading strategic initiatives that strengthened the institution’s international reputation. Most recently, he served as Dean of the School of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, one of the world’s leading institutions for performing arts education.

At the Fundació Ferrer de Música, we warmly welcome this appointment and reaffirm our commitment to continuing our longstanding partnership with the Fundació Conservatori Liceu. For many years, both foundations have shared the common goal of providing access to outstanding music education and creating opportunities for emerging talent.

A Strong Partnership Between the Two Foundations

This collaboration is reflected in initiatives such as the Ferrer-Salat – Conservatori Liceu Scholarships, which have supported the education of young musicians for the past seventeen years, and the Primary and Secondary Music Education Programme, through which the Fundació Ferrer de Música enables six schools located in highly vulnerable communities to participate, helping ensure equitable access to high-quality music education for young students.
