About us
The Ferrer Music Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to make music a tool for personal and social transformation. Since its creation in 1982, it has promoted access to music and talent development through projects of musical excellence, training scholarships, and social integration initiatives.
We firmly believe that music is a collective good with deep transformative value, capable of generating opportunities, strengthening cohesion, and awakening people’s creative potential. With this conviction, we develop programs that combine artistic quality with social commitment, bringing music to all audiences, especially those in situations of vulnerability.
In the field of musical excellence, the Foundation annually awards the Queen Sofía Prize for Musical Composition, a recognition of international prestige and the most generously endowed in Europe, and offers scholarships for young talents through the Ferrer-Salat Program with the Liceu Conservatory and the JONDE-Ferrer Salat Program with the Spanish National Youth Orchestra.
At the same time, through its social integration initiatives, the Foundation promotes educational and community projects that use music as a vehicle to foster self-esteem, collaboration, and the development of personal and social skills.
The Foundation also drives research on the relationship between musical learning and cognitive, emotional, and social development, with special attention to children with neurodevelopmental disorders, offering them new pathways for diagnosis and treatment through music.
Through this work, the Ferrer Music Foundation reaffirms its commitment to three main goals:
- Promote musical excellence and the development of strong professional careers.
- Facilitate access to music as a tool for transformation and social inclusion.
- Research the therapeutic potential of music in contexts of vulnerability.
