The Higher Centre of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation has inaugurated the Live Room Liceu Conservatory, a space renovated thanks to the patronage of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation and conceived to host live music and, at the same time, to be a meeting point and a place to relax for the whole educational community. The Live Room is an innovative concert hall that opens many different possibilities for music performances and new event formats.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

More than 100 students took part in last week\u2019s inauguration, with a marathon of music performances. Attendees enjoyed more than 6 hours of live music, divided into four blocks: piano music, chamber music, jazz and modern music, and a performance by the Liceu Big Band.<\/p>

During the presentation ceremony, Sergi Ferrer-Salat, chairman of the Ferrer-Salat Music Foundation and the Liceu Conservatory Foundation, emphasized that this new space is a testimony to the fact that the institution has consolidated and is increasingly open to new music trends. He also discussed the importance of raising awareness, and noted that philanthropy, when rooted in society, can be a transformative tool and generate greater integration and social cohesion.<\/p>

On the other hand, Maria Serrat, executive director of the Liceu Conservatory Foundation<\/strong>, shared her satisfaction at the opening of the new Live Room precisely on the 185th anniversary of the Liceu Conservatory, as it represents a step forward in the institution\u2019s history of creating spaces to enjoy music and culture in the city of Barcelona.<\/p>

Moreover, the Live Room joins the Liceu Conservatory Auditorium, the Orchestra Hall and the Chamber Hall in further enhancing the variety of first-class venues that the institution puts at the service of the city, and is also a new resource for the dissemination of culture and music in the Raval district.<\/p>

V\u00edctor Estap\u00e9, academic director of the Higher Centre<\/strong>, stated that all genres are welcome in this new space, which replaces the old Caf\u00e8 del Conservatori and is a giant step in terms of the possibilities of new formats, such as those including immersive technology.<\/p>

Finally, Gonzalo del Val, head of the Jazz and Modern Music department, announced that, in addition to the usual jam sessions, the Live Room will offer performances by several of his department\u2019s ensembles.<\/p>

The Live Room will host jam sessions on Thursdays, with students sharing the stage with world-class and internationally renowned teachers, and Wednesdays are reserved for performances by the four major ensembles of the Jazz and Modern Music department: the Liceu Big Band, the Liceu Gran Ensemble, the Liceu BLAM Collective and the Liceu Jazz Grup.<\/p>
