Perhaps this is the first time you are submitting a composition to a major prize.<\/p><p>If you have an original, unpublished and unperformed work written for symphony orchestra, <strong>now is the time to take it further.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>The call for applications for the XLIV Reina Sof\u00eda Prize for Musical Composition is now open,<\/strong> and this year brings major new developments. Europe\u2019s most prestigious composition prize is expanding its recognition with two new awards and a total prize fund of <strong>\u20ac175,000<\/strong>, supporting and recognising a greater number of composers.<\/p><p>Beyond the financial award, the prize is an opportunity for a work to move beyond the page and reach wider audiences.<\/p><h5><strong>Could your work be next?<\/strong><\/h5><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><p>Since 1982, the <strong>Reina Sof\u00eda Prize for Musical Composition<\/strong> has recognised creators who have contributed to shaping the present and future of contemporary music.<\/p><p>Its past winners include composers such as <strong>Joan Guinjoan, Nuria N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Fabi\u00e0 Santcovsky, Josep Planells and Luis Tabuenca<\/strong>, winner of the most recent edition.<\/p><p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fundacioferrermusica.org\/coneix-els-premiats\/\">Meet the winners<\/a><\/strong><\/p><h5><strong>Now, the Prize is looking for more works and more voices<\/strong><\/h5><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><p><strong>There is no age limit.<\/strong> Whether you are just beginning your career or have spent years developing your musical language, you can apply as long as you meet the requirements of the call.<\/p><p>In this edition, the same work may compete for all three awards:<\/p><ul><li><strong>First Prize \u2014 \u20ac100,000<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Second Prize \u2014 \u20ac50,000<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Third Prize \u2014 \u20ac25,000<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p>You do not need to choose which prize you wish to compete for. Submit a single work, and the jury will determine the award it receives.<\/p><h5><strong>From the page to the stage<\/strong><\/h5><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><p>The work awarded the First Prize will be premiered at the <strong>Teatro Monumental in Madrid<\/strong>, performed by the <strong>RTVE Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>, in a concert expected to be attended by <strong>Her Majesty Queen Sof\u00eda<\/strong>, who will personally present the prize to the winning composer.<\/p><p>In addition, the piece will become part of the programme of the <strong>Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE)<\/strong> winter season the following year.<\/p><h5><strong>Do you have any questions?<\/strong><\/h5><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><p><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><\/p><p>Anyone holding Spanish nationality or legally residing in Spain, with no age limit.<\/p><p><strong>What kind of work can I submit?<\/strong><\/p><p>An original, unpublished and unperformed work written for symphony orchestra.<\/p><p><strong>Can I submit more than one work?<\/strong><\/p><p>No. The call states that each composer may submit only one work.<\/p><p><strong>Do I have to choose between the First, Second or Third Prize?<\/strong><\/p><p>No. The same work is eligible for all three awards, and you do not need to select a category when submitting your application.<\/p><p><strong>What if I am young or have not yet established a career?<\/strong><\/p><p>That is precisely why we encourage you to apply.
