The Fundaci\u00f3 Ferrer de M\u00fasica contributes to making possible the new edition of Lied the Future, a programme promoted by the Franz Schubert Association, which has already selected the five duos that will take part in its 2026 edition. The ten selected musicians will receive top-level training with internationally renowned faculty and will have the opportunity to perform at leading local and international festivals and venues.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The selected duos come from Spain, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands and Italy: Katharina Bierweiler<\/strong> (Germany) and Jyri Mishukov<\/strong> (Finland); Alba Valdivieso<\/strong> and Carlos Bujosa<\/strong> (Spain); Bruno Meichsner<\/strong> (Germany) and George Needham<\/strong> (United Kingdom); Marta Esteban<\/strong> and Adri\u00e0 Crespo<\/strong> (Spain); and Klara Brockhaus<\/strong> (Germany) and Rodolfo Focarelli<\/strong> (Italy). It is worth noting that three of them (Alba Valdivieso, Carlos Bujosa and Marta Esteban) were previously awarded Ferrer-Salat Scholarships<\/strong><\/a> to pursue their studies at the Conservatori Liceu<\/strong>. This is a source of great satisfaction for us and confirms the value and purpose of such initiatives, which provide the financial support young musical talents need in order to focus fully on their artistic development.<\/p>

The jury highlighted the duos\u2019 high artistic level, interpretative maturity and strong musical rapport between singer and pianist. Throughout the programme, the scholarship recipients will receive first-rate artistic and professional mentoring and will be part of the programme\u2019s network of paid concerts,<\/strong> enabling them to present their work on a variety of stages and further develop their professional experience.<\/p>

A succesful international call<\/strong><\/p>

For the first time, Lied the Future<\/a> opened an international call, which received an outstanding response: 146 artists from 31 countries submitted applications,<\/strong> confirming the growing international interest in and prestige of the programme.<\/p>

The selection committee, made up of the mentors of the Schubert\u00edada Academy 2026<\/strong> \u2014Wolfram Rieger<\/strong>, Wolfgang Holzmair<\/strong> and Olaf B\u00e4r<\/strong>\u2014 together with the Artistic Director of the Schubert\u00edada, S\u00edlvia Pujalte<\/strong>, and pianist Francisco Poyato<\/strong>, placed special emphasis on interpretative quality, the artistic coherence of the duos and their potential for development within the programme.<\/p>

Consolidation of the concert network<\/strong><\/p>

With this new edition, Lied the Future strengthens its network of paid concerts,<\/strong> one of the programme\u2019s core pillars, ensuring real professional projection for the selected young performers. To date, the programme has collaborated with more than twenty festivals and institutions, including La Rioja Festival, l\u2019Esperan\u00e7a Coronada de D\u00e9nia, Festival Ciutat de Cl\u00e0ssica, C\u00edrculo del Liceu, Joventuts Musicals de Banyoles, Sociedad Filarm\u00f3nica de Lugo, Nits de Cl\u00e0ssica a Valls, Leeds Song Festival and Boyne Music Festival, among others, and continues to expand the scope and impact of the programme.<\/p>

About Lied the Future<\/strong><\/p>

Since its creation, Lied the Future has established itself as a benchmark platform that bridges the pedagogical and professional spheres.<\/strong> Participants work with internationally renowned artists such as Matthias Goerne<\/strong>, Christiane Karg<\/strong>, Wolfram Rieger<\/strong> and Dorothea Roschmann<\/strong>, and perform concerts at the Schubert\u00edada de Vilabertran as well as at local and international festivals and institutions.<\/p>

The programme follows a learning by doing<\/em> methodology, offering a practical and real learning experience that facilitates young musicians\u2019 entry into the professional lied<\/em> circuit. More than forty young performers who have taken part in the programme continue to develop active and internationally recognised careers.<\/p>
