Around 20% of students in Catalonia<\/strong> present neurodevelopmental disorders<\/strong>, such as autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, or communication disorders<\/strong>, often associated with behavioral difficulties<\/strong>.<\/p>

This proportion is similar to that of other countries in our region, but the difference lies in diagnosis and treatment<\/strong>: in Catalonia, only a small minority of these children<\/strong> receive proper detection and care<\/strong>.<\/p>

These disorders are among the main causes of low academic performance, school failure, and dropout<\/strong>, which in Catalonia is around 20%, much higher than in countries like the Nordic ones, where it does not exceed 7%.<\/p>

The lack of early diagnosis<\/strong> means that these difficulties are often identified late, leading to consequences such as low academic achievement<\/strong>, emotional and behavioral problems<\/strong> (anxiety, depression), and a negative impact that often extends beyond the school years<\/strong>.<\/p>

According to Dr. Miquel Casas, Honorary Professor of Psychiatry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona<\/strong>, early detection and intervention<\/strong> are key to reversing these trajectories. In this context, school-based initiatives for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment<\/strong> help reduce school failure<\/strong>, improve students\u2019 emotional well-being<\/strong>, and support families and teachers<\/strong> in addressing these challenges.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
